How to play it

  • Bar 1 is an introduction: the open fifth string as a bass, then the pickup E D♯, the open first string and the fourth fret of the second.
  • Bar 2 is the figure everyone knows, E D♯ E B D C, all on the first two strings. Keep the eighths even and let the open E ring.
  • Bars 3, 4 and 5 each hold a note for a beat and a half and then play three eighths: C E A, then E G♯ B, then E E D♯. The G♯ is the first fret of the third string.
